Rebates for new gas connection customers

Save huge when you connect to natural gas for the first time and install major hot water or heating natural gas appliances*

*2019 Promotion Period: 1 January 2019 to 13 December 2019. 

There’s never been a better time to turn your house into a home, and you can do just that with the help of AGN’s natural gas rebates for a huge range of appliances!

Rebates of $500 and $100 are available for the connection of natural gas appliances, as well as a special once-off $500 connection bonus available to eligible customers.

What's on offer?

$500 appliance rebates 

Eligible existing home customers connecting to natural gas for the first time can claim a $500 rebate for the installation of the following major appliances:

  • Natural gas hot water system
  • Natural gas ducted central heating or hydronic heating
  • Natural gas flued space heating (e.g. decorative gas log fire, wall furnace)

Each connecting household can claim a maximum of one $500 rebate per appliance type - that’s up to $1500 off!


$100 appliance rebates 

Eligible existing home customers connecting to natural gas for the first time can also claim a $100 rebate for the installation of any other natural gas appliance, including:

  • Supplementary hot water systems or heating
  • Outdoor heating appliances (e.g. fire pit, fire table)
  • Barbecue
  • Cooktop, oven, or combination cooker
  • Clothes-dryer
  • Pool/spa heaters

There is no limit to how many $100 rebates a connecting household may claim, however, the appliance must be fully connected.


How about the $500 connection bonus?

This bonus is only available to customers who connect their existing home property to natural gas for the very first time AND who install at least one major natural gas appliance, these being:

  • Natural gas hot water system (excluding gas-boosted solar models)
  • Natural gas flued space heating units (e.g. gas log fire, wall furnace)
  • Natural gas ducted central heating or hydronic heating

Gas meter must be installed between 1 January 2019 and 13 December 2019 for connection bonus to apply.


General campaign terms 

1)  Appliance rebates and the connection bonus can be claimed via one of two methods:

  • Customers can choose a participating rebate supplier, who will be able to complete the natural gas work required and facilitate rebate payments from AGN (most commonly as a discount from price). Use this directory to find rebate suppliers closest to your area.
  • Alternatively, customers can now claim appliance rebates and the connection bonus direct from AGN using AGN's new cashback website, once appliance installation is complete. The cashback website is found here. To make a successful claim, customers will need to make sure they can attach a copy of the Gas Certificate of Compliance, and any invoices relating to appliance purchase and installation. Approved rebate claims will be paid to customers as a cashback by direct transfer.

2)  In Victoria and New South Wales, this offer is only available to customers covered by the network owned by AGN. You can use this postcode list to check if your location is eligible. AGN owns the whole of the natural gas network in South Australia, so no postcode review is necessary for addresses connected to natural gas in this state.

3)  Offers apply to existing dwellings only, including rental properties. New builds are excluded from these offers.

4)  Rebates can only be claimed for eligible natural gas appliance purchased during the campaign period, which for this offer is 13 December 2019.

5)  Conversions of appliances from LPG to natural gas qualify for AGN's appliance rebates. 

6)  Proof of purchase/appliance installation will be required for each rebate being claimed, as well as a Gas Certificate of Compliance/Gas Compliance Certificate.

7)  Rebates available for new natural gas connection customers until 13 December 2019.

8)  This offer replaces the 2019 New Connection Rebate Promotion, as well as any variations of that Promotion in preceding years.
